Introduce Halla Mountain, Most famous of mountain in korea! famous place in Jeju

by N잡하는 이우 2022. 9. 21.

Last week, I climbed Mt. Halla. It is very good ecperience. and I saw many foreigners in that place. so I introduce Mt. Halla for many tourists.

Mt. Halla is located in Jeju, the largest island in korea. It is the highest in South Korea. (1,970 meters out of the sea.)

There is a lake called Baeknokdam in the summit crater. Baeknokdam means a pond where white deer drink water, but when you go to summer, there is often no water at the top. As mentioned above, if you catch the day after the rain or typhoon, you can see the water filled.

Course

There are two courses to get to the top.

first, Gwaneumsa  Temple Course (8.7km)

The Gwaneumsa Temple course has a starting point of 615m above sea level, the lowest of all courses in Hallasan Mountain, and is frequented by provincial residents and mountaineers rather than ordinary people. You can experience what mental breakdown is when you go down the mountain as if you are eating, and when you see the sign that you went up and down the steep stairs around the valley but only 1,000m to 100m above sea level. Gwaneumsa Temple course was also the place where many distress accidents occurred due to such rough terrain. The only mineral spring is around Yongjingak Pavilion, and the only shelter, Samgakbong Peak Shelter, is a manned shelter, but all there is is a shelter building and a simple toilet, so you have to prepare drinks.

Second, Seongpanak Course (9.6km)

The Seongpanak course is the longest but relatively flat. While the Seongpanak course is surrounded by forests, there is not much to see until it reaches the top, the Gwaneumsa course has quite good scenery such as Samgakbong Peak, Yongjingak Pavilion, Wanggwanneung Royal Tomb, and Byeongpungbawi Rock.

Many people take the course to go up to Seongpanak and come down to Gwaneumsa Temple, but this is a very bad choice to see the scenery. If you want to see the nice scenery, you have to go up to Gwaneunmsa Temple and come down to Seongpanak.

A public transportation

Seongpanak Course: Take the 5.16 road bus (No. 181, 182, 281) [33]. Accessibility is the best because the dispatch interval is short, 10 minutes to 15 minutes.
Eomok, Yeongsil Course: Take the 1100 road bus (No. 240). The dispatch interval is one hour. It also operates a shuttle bus that travels between Jeju Bus Terminal and Yeongsil Rest Area only in winter.
Gwaneumsa Temple Course: Use the Jeju City Bus (No. 475). Since it is a bus that does not enter the city, you have to get off at the entrance of Jeju National University and transfer. In the past, it operated only on weekends and holidays, but it can be used on weekdays due to the reorganization of bus routes in 2017. The last train of Gwaneum Bowl is 20:02, so there is no big concern about the late descent.
Donnaeko Course: Take Seogwipo City Bus (No. 611, 612). In the past, it was difficult to meet the bus time by running only six times a day with the route number 3, but now it is quite convenient because the bus runs every 40 minutes due to the reorganization of the bus route in 2017

Have a nice trip!
